Transport and parking

You can get to our campuses around Melbourne in many ways, but for the sake of the environment, your health and limited car spaces, consider public transport, cycling or walking before driving – and if you have to drive, consider carpooling and park on campus for less.

To find out how to get to our international locations, visit our Monash Malaysia or our campuses page.

Parking spaces

We provide metered parking spaces and permit areas on most campuses if you need to drive. Some permits are for students and staff and some for staff only. You can buy or apply for a permit from our purchase parking permits page.

If you already have a blue, red or green permit, don't forget to update your vehicle details if they change.

To ensure you’re parking in the correct permit area, please check local parking permit signs in each car park.

Car spaces fill up quickly, so don't forget your other travel options or combination of options.

Parking prices

2017 parking prices can be viewed on our purchase parking permits page and metered parking page.

Changes to parking at Clayton

Major construction works at Clayton campus have seen a number of changes to parking at the campus.

Upgrade of the Clayton Bus Loop

Works are underway to upgrade the Clayton Bus Loop to the new Monash Transport Interchange. This will see a number of changes to the layout of the bus interchange, but there will be no change to the timetables of bus services.

Free inter-campus shuttle bus with free wi-fi

This free shuttle service links Clayton with all campuses except Parkville. There is also a free service linking Frankston railway station with the Peninsula campus.  With free wi-fi on board, it's the perfect way  to connect.

Carshare at Monash

Monash students and staff without access to a car are able to get around using a shared car program. Carsharing is a cost-effective, clever and simple alternative to owning or renting a vehicle and has enormous environmental and community benefits. Cars are available for pick up  at both the Clayton and Caulfield campuses (see starred locations on below map), along with hundreds of other pick up points across the state.

Flexicar maps

For more information about Carshare programs located at Monash, go to the Flexicar or Goget websites.

You can park on campus for free if you park in an area reserved for motorcycles and follow the guidelines.

Disability permits

If you have a disability, you can park in the convenient spaces reserved for you if you have a disability permit, which you can get from your local council. VicRoads has more information. If the disabled parking bays are full, you can then park in any red, yellow or blue permit spaces, ensuring you display your disability permit.

Our campuses are monitored 24/7 for your security and safety. We also operate after-hours security buses at our Caulfield and Clayton campuses.
